Modern Electric Fireplaces That Fit The Bill!

There are some people who have certain living requirements that dictate certain choices. More specifically--say you would like to add a fireplace to your abode but are limited in some manner. Perhaps proper venting is not possible, maybe the cost of adding a real fireplace with chimney, flue, etc. is not in your budget, or perhaps you have health restrictions that prohibit procuring the wood needed to fuel the flames. Or, maybe a gas fireplace doesn't work because of the cost, maybe you think it will produce too much residue, or you might even be allergic to gas. Whatever the reason, in this day and age you can select a modern electric fireplace that can be perfect for your home or apartment.

You can start with something along the lines of a Petite Visionary Electric Fireplace (oak finish) or an Anna Electric Fireplace (mahogany finish) for between $300 and $500. From there on, you are going to select whether or not you have an ultra-modern electric fireplace (such as one with a media console) or a classical or traditional one. Then, there are other choices such as color and style--do you want to stick with a wood finish or utilize the real wood itself? Certainly, finances will probably be a  of this decision-making process. Some of these, like a Hartford 30" Cherry Electric Fireplace, can hit $1500 and upward.

After the major selections have been taken care of, one will need to choose what type of opening will be involved. Will it be with screens and chains? How about glass doors? What type of log structure will be used? Will the flames be a glowing type or a classical "licking" picture? Will you utilize such accessories such as an insert, pellets, a faux (or real) tool set? These are the the "last-minute details" that need decided upon as well.

Whatever the selections are, it is certain that you will add warmth and depth to your home through the addition of a modern electric fireplace. Any den, living room, family room, or study just looks so much more inviting with something of this nature to brighten it up and personalize it with your touch.  It will certainly be a good representation of you!

Gothic Fireplaces - Buying an Antique Fireplace

By Richard Billington
In the nineteenth century, Gothic art and architecture experienced a revival. An interest in England's medieval period was at the heart of this revival-not merely religious iconography, but the decorative elements of Gothic interior design-richly ornamented carving, sweeping arches, and gilding. Gothic motifs and themes found their way into interior design, too. As the principal source of heat in nineteenth century homes, not to mention the focal point of the decorative scheme, it's not surprising the fireplaces received the Gothic treatment. Like other Gothic furniture pieces, Gothic fireplaces are imposing structures no matter what their size.
